Dear members,
If you please can help me to find immigration records of Georg Nitterl. He migrated from Peru to United States. He was born in Austria.
Name: Georg Nitterl
Birth Date:15 May 1914

Residence: 1 Nov 1999. San Rafael, Marin, California, United States.

Georg Nitterl was my brother-in-law's mother's brother and my hope is to find out in which city in Austria he was born and also his birth certificate.

@Byll Marques Brandao Does your brother-in-law have any information on Georg's parents and when he might have migrated to Peru? What information would your bother-in-law's mother have on her brother if any? I just need a bit more information.

1) On Georg Nitterl's parents:
Farther: August Nitterl
Mother's Maiden Name: Eleonora Schuldenzucker
Note: It is possible that Georg Nitterl's biological parents are other than those mentioned above, or perhaps he is the biological son of only one of them, as it is an oral story that has been passed down through generations.
2) On Georg Nitterl's Migration to Peru:
Georg Nitterl most probably arrived in Peru between 1929 - 1930, or 1927-1932.
Married Record: 15 Jan 1943, Lima, Lima, Peru.
Note: The Nitterl's were among the Austrian European settlers who arrived in Peru sometime between 1927 - 1932, during the period of the establishment in Peru of the Austrian settlement "La Esperanza" (1929-1932).
Note: The Nitterl's would have traveled from Europe to Peru on board the ships "Orazio" and "Colombo", both of the Italian shipping company Navigazione Generali, arrived in Callao, stayed at the "Hotel de Migrantes" and probably headed to the jungle border city of Satipo.
Thanks,
Byll

@Byll Marques Brandao Was the family Catholic, Protestant, or Jewish?
1 -
Georg Nitterl was Jewish, but I don't know if he was born of a Jewish family or underwent conversion to Judaism.
His assumed parents (August Nitterl and Eleonora Schuldenzucker) were born Christians, in Austria, as follows:
- August Nitterl's Birth: 7 . Mai 1887, Ferschnitz, Amstetten, Lower Austria West), Austria.
- Eleonora Nitterl's Birth: 29 January 1889, Muehldorf-Niederranna, Lower Austria (West), Austria.

@Byll Marques Brandao So far I don't know if the immigration documents you are seeking can be found. However, that doesn't mean you can't solve the question of whether or not Georg was the son of August.
With the information you gave me for August and Eleonora I found that they were Catholic and the records are online. Do you have access to Ancestry? If not you could go to a FamilySearch Center. Another option is Matricula Online, which is a great source for Catholic records for Germany and Austria. Here is the link to the records of the Diocese St Polten. On the right hand side all of the parishes in that diocese are listed. Clicking on them will take you to the records (christenings, marriages, and burials) for that parish. You will notice that the parishes of Ferschnitz and Muehldorf are listed.
In Ancestry, go to this database: St. Polton Lower Austria Catholic Church Records. The advantage of using Ancestry is that the records are indexed so you can simply use the search box. The records are in German, and most of them also in old German script. You can ask for help with translation in the German Group here in Communities. To get you started, here is a christening record for Augustina, the first child born to August and Eleonora:
In the information for August, it says that he is a master shoemaker, a member of the militia, a widower (first wife's name is Maria), a son of Anton Nitterl and Aloisia Ertl, innkeepers in Oxenbach an der Ferschnitz.
There is much for you to discover and hopefully solve the mysteries. If you have any questions, just ask.
Happy hunting!

Thanks.
Can you please send me the web address of that christening record for Augustina, the first child born to August and Eleonora?

@Byll Marques Brandao I'm sorry if I wasn't clear in my explanation of how to find the church records. The image above is found on Ancestry.com and this link will take you to the correct record collection: St. Polten Lower Austria Catholic Church Records. From the search box you can search by name.
Here is a link to the same record on Matricula.org: Augustina Christening
Here is how to find records on Matricula:
1- Go to home page at https://data.matricula-online.eu/en/.
2- These records are not indexed, but are organized by parish, by year, and by christenings (taufbuch), marriages (trauung), and burials (sterbebuch). I have found it's easier to click on "Fonds" and see what's available than to search for one place at a time:
3- From the Fonds screen, click on "Osterreich":
4- Click on the diocese of "St Polten":
5- Click on the parish you want to search (Augustina's christening is in Muehldorf):
6- Find the correct register:
7- From here you just have to find them in the book, but at least they are in chronological order! Augustina is found on image 0086:
Hope this helps!

Thanks. Very helpful.
A new record came up. If you please can try to find who Georg Nitterl's biological father was.
"I think the records of the first child of them Georg NITTERL (GQL6-Z34) is not correct because he is born as Georg SCHULDENZUCKER on the 24.05.1914 in Vienna. In that record is noticed that he has to use the name NITTERL from date 24.12.1929. August NITTERL (G6QF-CXR) is not the biologial father of Georg (GQL6-Z34) because August gave Georg only the Surname but not the Legitimation in the birth book."

@Byll Marques Brandao Yes, I agree that August could not be the biological father of Georg. At the time of Georg's birth, August was preparing to marry his first wife.
Eleonora does not seem to want to divulge any clues to who fathered her child. I do know that the Alservorstadt Hospital kept records of the women who gave birth there. I don't know if there would be any more information, but I can't think of anything else to try. I haven't found these records online, but you could probably order them from the Vienna Archive Information System.
Do you have any idea if the godmother, Lina (probably Karolina) Hödt, is related?
0 -
I'll try to find out if those records of women who gave birth in 1914 at Alservorstadt Hospital still exist.
No, I don't have any clue if the godmother Lina (probably Karolina) Hödt is related. I couldn't find any record of her on FamilySearch.
Actually I didn't know about the godmother Lina (probably Karolina) Hödt until you mentioned her. It's because I found it difficult to understand the record's handwriting. Where exactly is her name in the record?
Please let me know if there's any FamilySearch group or community where I could request for German-record transcriptions.
In the light of Georg's family brick wall, I would like to put in a request for the German transcription of both his birth and mother's marriage records.
August Nitterl - G6QF-CXRE
Eleonora Shuldenzucker - GQL6-9ZL
Georg - GQL6-Z34
This is the marriage record of August Nitterl and Eleonora Schuldenzucker. Isn't Georg mentioned as Eleonora Schuldenzucker's son?
0 -
@Byll Marques Brandao No, the marriage record says that Eleonora is the daughter (tochter) of George Schuldenzucker. The comments in the last column do mention August's first wife and her death.
I do believe there may be more clues that I am not able to find in these records so yes, it would be wise to have them transcribed and translated by the great team in our German group. Here is the link:

I joined the German Research Group. Thanks.
Can you please look at these two FamilySearch links, if they could help to find the immigration and/or death records of Georg Nitterl - GQL6-Z34? He migrated from Peru to US, most likely passed away in California, USA, and was Jewish.

@Byll Marques Brandao I have not been able to find any passenger lists or immigration records for George. The two records you provided give locations where he lived, but do not have actual records attached. They come from a third party source, not from FamilySearch.
I also cannot find any death notice or obituary in California. He was alive in 2005 and living with his daughter and grandson in San Rafael. The last known address is 566 Wake Robin Lane. It is a residence, converted into an assisted living center and his grandson was (or is) an administrator there.

Thanks.
Just to probably wrap that up, please if you can try finding Georg's wife immigration and/or death records, or any (I would add them to the family tree). If it's there in the US, it may lead to someone record of Georg, too.
Maiden Name: Blanca Manzanares Olave / Blanca Olave - GQLD-R6J
Birth Date: 1914 - 1915
Birth Place: Piura, Peru
Father: Francisco Olave - GFPF-XR5
Mother: Josefa Manzanares Goicochea - GFPF-2CW

Note: Georg NITTERL also used the surname SCHULDENZUCKER.
Thanks again,

@Byll Marques Brandao I was searching for Blanca as I searched for George. I could not find any death record for her, but she must have died at least ten years before George. Do you recognize the name Pilar Olave?
0 -
Thanks. Yes, I do. I came across the name Pilar Olave a couple of times, while doing the genealogy research. I think her full name is Maria del Pilar de Olave.
Pilar Olave was probably Georg Nitterl's and Blanca Olave's daughter, though her surname is not Nitterl.
I don't know if Georg Nitterl and Blanca Olave had more children.
It seems that the death records of Georg Nitterl and Blanca Olave are not in the US; perhaps they passed away and were buried in Peru.
Note: I couldn't't find Blanca Olave's birth record. I just know she was born between 1914 to 1915 in Piura, Peru, because I found her marriage record, which you can find attached here.
Note: It is very much likely Georg Nitterl became Jewish in Peru. I don't know if Blanca Olave was born Jewish or converted to Judaism.

@Byll Marques Brandao Marriage year is 1943, but I think Pilar was born in November 1939. Also, is this a sister to Blanca:
0 -
Thanks.
You should be right, as Pilar Olave was born in November 1939 and Georg and Blanca got married in 1943.
I was not able to figure out if that is sister to Blanca because I could not understand most of the handwriting in that record's picture; I unsuccessfully tried to find it on FamilySearch (I am still learning how to use the FamilySearch tools).
Please check the following FamilySearch match that popped up for Blanca Olave (GQLD-R6J), just to be sure that this is not the same person:
Blanca Olave - GQLD-R6J
Thanks again.

@Byll Marques Brandao I purposely captured the film and image #'s to make it easy to find. In Catalog (under search menu), click on search for film number, and then just type in the image #.
In this record of July 1901, Huancabamba, Peru--the parents seem to match and one of the godparents is Josefa Goicochea, a widow. Name of the child being christened is Maria Christina.

Thanks. I.will go through that record later today, and write you later.
There is a typo in my Blanca Olave's FamilySearch - matching request. Sorry about that. This is the correct one (it might be just a coincidence, if you please can double check it:

I found the christening-year1900-Huancabamba-Peru record and could get its transcription, just not of the surnames of Maximiliano (Maria Cristina's husband)
You are right. It seems that Maria Cristina is sister to Blanca Olave (GQLD-R6J). My only doubt is that this record names Florencio Olave as Maria Cristina's father, but his name.appears as rancisco Olave (GFPF-XR5) in the family tree, as per following two records:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS2Q-69M5-S
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGXQ-7XS5
Transcription of the christening-year1900-Huancabamba-Peru record:
