Hello, can somebody help me with reading the occupation of Lajos Zemko (line 22) on this Ellis Island ship manifest? For now, I came up with "turner" but I'm not really sure cuz I also think I can see an "s" in the word.

Additionally, I would like to know the address of his acquaintance George Satek, if that's readable, the amount of money he came with (is that $18?), and his height. Those are the only things I cannot read. All are on the following page of the manifest.

Thanks in advance

Oy. Given what the clerk's handwriting made of Tavarnok (it looks vaguely like Toraruok), I'm not sure there's really anything to be done with that occupation. My best guess matches yours, but you're right that that maybe-r actually looks a lot more like an 's', and the 'n' has some odd corners, maybe it's something else... Grrhhck.

The money looks like 18, overwritten with 20. For the address: ??? A 220 NYork. I'm not finding anything that really fits in Wikipedia's Manhattan streets category (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Streets_in_Manhattan), and the categories for the other boroughs seem highly incomplete, so it's not surprising that I can't find anything there.

His height looks like "4 7", overwritten with maybe "6 1/4"? So very short, even by 1909 standards.

Thanks, Julia. I guess for now I'll just make a note of "turner". Later in his life, other records say laborer and then coppersmith. So who knows?

Yeah, the address is horrendously written, but I guess that's not really that important.

And yeah, about his height... I was seeing the same. "4 7". And I was like... That's short! I don't think it's correct tho, his WWII draft card says this so... Very vague
