How do you find where to look for estate records.
I have been told that estate records can potentially help one go back significantly back in time, before the time when the church records are available. I would like to learn this art. I profess that I am mystified about how to go about this, despite watching available tutorials.
For example: my ancestor,
Jens Hansen (KD73-69T) born About 1745 and decease 4 December 1829, was living in Ølby, Højelse, Ramsø, Roskilde, Denmark when he passed away. He was there with his family in the 1787 census as well. The census says he was a "Bonde og Hmd"
The family search record for Hojelse says that the estate records for this parish reside in the following gods:
Vallø gods; Roskilde Duebrødre klosters gods; Lellinge gods, Spanager gods, Taagerød gods; Vallø stifts gods; Gammel Køgegård gods; Benzonseje gods; Spanager gods;
Is there a cheat sheet that I can look at, if I know the place where they are residing? Or, do I need to look for his records in all of these gods? I was hoping to narrow down my search a little.
Any key vocabulary words I need to know?
