Birth Record No. 197, Sejny Parish, of Maryanna Kassaczun, born in Sejny on the 17th October 1895, christened on the 20th October 1895, daughter of Wincenty Kassaczun, 50 years old, a farmer who is away from home, and of his legally married wife, Marianna, born Aleksiuk, 42 years old. Midwife reported the birth of this infant. Witnesses: Jan Arandarczyk, 72 years old, and Michal Bielecki, 52 years old, both residents of Sejny. Godparents: Kazimir (Kazimierz in Polish) Dejnerowicz and Teofilia Kiricka.

@Eppich Maria - For Maryanna, from your experience, what would "away from home" mean? Could this be he was working on the farm or left the city for some reason?
On Jan, I'm not finding a town called Sudec. I know the cropping was tight on the image, I had to do that to comply with the posting guidelines. Is it possible this is Bubele?

In this case the father being away from home could mean that he was conscripted into Russian military forces, or out of town. It was not that he was working on the farm.
