Yes! Several years ago I was helping someone with their research and we found his ancestor had appealed to congress for financial aid following his service in the War of 1812.

I assisted a historian working on a biography of a Civil-War era military person, and found reports which he authored (or figured prominently in) from his military service before the American Civil War.

Where would this set be found?

Yvonne - the wikipedia article includes several links at the bottom to various access points for the Serial Set.
Some of these access points are available from many university libraries, archives facilities, etc. (They pay for the access.)
Volumes are also available at HathiTrust, and the Libraries of the University of Washington have created a LibGuide to how to access and use these volumes. (Last updated 2023.)
The official government project to digitize all the volumes for free online access is in progress, and may finish before 2030.
