Clan Donald and the Sons of Somerled
Help
Someone has made so many changes to Donald, the progenitor of Clan Donald, on it that they have replaced him with Mauldouen of Lennox (L1WR-FYB), 3rd Earl of Lennox, merging and deleting so many times, all original data is gone. They left Donalds father Raghnall (MVMZ-N3Y) in tact and his son Angus Mor (G7W9-G8N), but.... man... it's a mess. They replaced not only Donald and His wife, but a lot of Angus Mor MacDonald's siblings. They have made more merges, deletions and changes than there are valid sources... speaking of sources... they used wikipedia and other family trees as sources.... phhhhhhttt
The progenitor of Clan Donald is Now NOT Donald but Mauldouen.... will his descendants all be changed to MacMauldouen instead of MacDonald???
it looks like it might take quite a bit of work to straighten this out

Can anything be done to reverse out the changes?

@Raymond ONeil McDonald Your McDonald clan seems as messed up as my Cameron line. It is very discouraging when people make changes without adding real sources to what they add.
I can see a lot of changes by a lot of different people.
First off if you have the original information on a different family history platform, then you have what they have changed. If you don't, then it is going to be hard.
If you go under last changes made on the right hand side of the person to whom you are researching, you can see all the changes that were made and if you know which ones belong that were changed you can always restore the change. I see that on Angus you can do that. You can also contact those who made the changes and collaborate with them.
When trying to sort out the clans, it can be difficult unless you have reliable sources, like you said, not wikipedia. Curious, do you have an ancestry account? The correct information could be on there.
If you click on the picture it will enlarge. Is this information the correct information? It is different from FamilySearch.
One thing to note, FamilySearch is a family shared tree. This means that anyone who is connected to you family line can and as you have seen, do make changes to the line. It can be frustrating when they do not use reliable sources or collaborate with those in the tree. The tree belongs to everyone and not just a person's single tree.
I hope this helps. Please let me know.
Kind Regards,
Shannon
