Hi,

I have attempted to edit the profiles of my family via Recommended Tasks, but have ended up with 6 profiles that I was unable to complete the editing tasks for. I have dealt with the English and Scots profiles which leaves me with three profiles that fit under the heading of Austro-Hungarian Empire.

The profiles are FSID: LDRS-6QG, LHSM-FM9 and GSDL-BGF. I am not sure if the second profile pertains to a person who was associated with my family when she was alive. There could be answers on MyHeritage, but I am unable to access my site due to taking a break from my subscription.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Joanne.

I dismissed the record hint on Anna Kemka (LDRS-6QG), since Stomfa wasn't even in the same county as Zsolna. I assume that should remove her from your list. (I'm not LDS and I don't use the app, so I don't have a "Recommended Tasks" list anywhere. The closest I get is the record hints list on the homepage.)

It looks like you're partway through a legacy-data cleanup (aka "mergefest, oh joy") on Rozal Bicsak (LHSM-FM9): her daughter Maria currently has two sets of parents that should likely be merged (after checking the images from the baptismal register to make sure they're the same people). I made one correction in the family: Julis is a diminutive of Julia/Julianna, not a masculine name. When going through the record hints, pay close attention to every available detail, because it looks like the hinting engine is letting its anglo-centric roots show, suggesting a mother with a totally different surname as a match. Given the different church/district of the city, I highly doubt that they're the same people. (Szeged was and is Not A Small City.)

I don't know why Stephan Czagány (GSDL-BGF) is on your list, as I don't see any remaining hints or alerts on him. I have a small quibble on his birthplace and your reason statement about it: up to 1920, the town of Zsolna was in Trencsén county, Hungary. (The fact that Hungary's crowned head happened to be the same person as Austria's was largely irrelevant to the administrative setup. [Heck, he wore a different crown for the two jobs.]) In the Slovakian name/jurisdiction, kral is roughly "circuit, district"; the town is called simply Žilina in Slovak.

Just for "kicks and giggles" 😁, I looked at the various historical maps on Mapire:

1st military survey: Markt Zilina, Silein vel Solna [vel = Latin for "or"]

    2nd military survey: Silein

3rd military survey: Sillein (Zilina) (Zsolna)

    1910: Sillein (Zsolna)

    1914: Zsolna

    ---

If you encounter a Hungarian record that you can't decipher, I'll be happy to help. (I can also usually figure out the sort of Latin that gets entered in registers.)

    Julia Szent-Györgyi,

Thank you very much for your assistance. I will certainly no doubt ask for assistance from you in the future.

Stephan Czagány (GSDL-BGF)  is my paternal grandmother's paternal line. On a Slovak census document the surname is listed as above but later chaged to Cagan / Caganova with the Slovak accents. I placed his data under the Hungarian heading as he was born geographically in Hungary. I did have a hint or two for him that I wasn't sure if they were correct or not.
