Question about information Family Search placed on a record in the tree
Hi,
I came across a person today, Jatty Faulkner ( KH7B-29C ) in the tree that appears to have been created by familysearch back in 2012. She came from Ireland to Philadelphia in the mid 1800's and was married in 1866.
The reason for my query is that the record notes a birth location ( of, Waterford ). Given the scarcity of Irish records back then this fact could be significant as I have been searching for the families home for a while now.
I cannot find out any reference identifying where this fact came from. (I had thought perhaps it came from the marriage data, but I have seen the church record, newspaper articles and her birth location was not noted) I am wondering if familysearch has the civil marriage record (I believe they started keeping some about 1860, but have not been able to locate it)
Hopefully someone on this forum that has more experience than I do and could find where this information came from.
Thanks!
John Connacher

When FamilySearch creates a record for a person it gets the data from one or more of the family trees in its "genealogies" database. One of the ones that pops up most frequently is the International Genealogical Index (IGI), which contains millions of records, mostly unsourced. Jatty's information probably came from the IGI. Here is a link to the IGI record for her.

I appreciate the explanation. I saw the user's id on some entries, but familysearch on the creation of the fact. This explains things perfectly. Thank You!
