Question about information in parent section of baptismal record
Hello! I'm hoping to find help with the attached record. This should be a baptismal record for my great grandfather named Mihaly Csabin. On this record, it shows his parents as Miso Stefanov and Maria Mirda. The name Csabin in written under the father's name. Does anyone have any incite on what this would mean?

Here's another baptism, for son Elias, where the father is given(scribbled in, actually) as Csabinozky:https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-6DSS-D6L?i=119&cc=1554443

This is just an idea, take it with a grain of salt. Maybe the father was known as Miso Stefanov (Mišo is still a nickname for Michael these days in Slovakia) because his father's name was Stefan (Štefan). Stefanov = of Stefan/Stefan's. So he would be Michael Csabin, son of Stefan. But again, just an idea. If you managed to find Miso's baptismal record, the name of his father could confirm or disprove this theory.

Christopher's find is introduced with melius "better", so this is a basic "alias" surname -- for which there can be many different motivations or explanations. LuciaV's idea of a patronymic versus a family name seems pretty likely.

Thank you all so much! I had found the baptismal record for Elias, but did not notice the crossed out name! So much great insight from all of you, I so appreciate all your help. This was a tricky line, first marriage, three children, wife passed. Second marriage, at least three children (still looking), husband passed. Likely second wife remarried as she was a young widow, still researching. I work in our familysearch center and our portal has been out for eighteen months, restored end of December. January till now I have been able to locate new ancestors on all four of my lines, it has been a very exciting experience and I truly appreciative all your help!

Again, thank you all for your help, I did find the baptismal record for Michael; only his birthdate and name Michael (no surname) were extracted so it was page by page searching. The extractor could not read the parents' names, but his father was Stefan Csabinszky as you all thought. Not having much luck reading the mother's name but I will look for siblings to try and find a more legible record. Thought you'd like to know!
