OK, this is tragic and gruesome, I've never seen an entry in a birth register quite like this.
Transcription:
Translation:
On the 10th of Sept, Verena Asahlin, legitimate daughter of Hanß Michel Asahl here, from whoring for the second time gave birth to a male child. I, the pastor, was in Lörrach that day for a synod. In the meantime the fornicator Barthlin Fürderer a Catholic [shoe apprentice?], born in Kappel an hour from Freiburg, choked this child and broke its neck on the 12th of Sept at 2 in the morning, and then fled to [???]. But that night he snuck back here and hid under the hay in the house. He was discovered and taken into custody. He admitted to the murder and was bound with ropes and taken to the tower in Lörrach, after which, on the 15th of December, he was decapitated at the court place in Schliengen and laid his [body?] on the wheel.
Yikes! None of my usual dictionaries had the verb "decollieren" so I googled it and came up with this article that uses the word and describes torture on the wheel. It's in German, but you can use Google Translate to get the meaning. https://www.archaeo-now.com/2019/06/06/das-r%C3%A4dern-eine-einfallsreiche-und-grausame-todesstrafe/

Thank you for the help. I tried putting as much of it as I could into Google translate and it turned out a little rough in the middle. The only thing I could find in Ernest Thode's genealogical dictionary was decollatio (des Johannes) Latin for 29 August; beheading of John the Baptist. I didn't realize decapitation and torture were still being done
