You're welcome, David. If you ever figure out where or what "Steÿred" (and all the other various spellings), please let me know. Thanks. Robert

Will do...I will ask my cousin in Austria the next time I speak with her via Skype.
By the way, if you're up for a challenge I would like to get a translation for the 1768 Marriage record I posted the other day.

I've looked at the 1768 marriage record a number of times and feel there is just too much I am not able to decipher. So I'm hoping one of the native German speakers will try to translate it for you. I'll keep an eye on it and if in a few more days you don't get a response, I will try to give you a translated abstract of the record.
Best regards, Robert.

Sounds like a plan...thank you.
How's your weather out west? Now is best time to be in Florida...no humidity, cool temps 60's at nite and low-mid 80 daytime.
How did you learn to translate the docs so well?

Cold, windy, and we even had a touch of snow earlier this week in Southern Utah, which is rare. We're always the warmest spot in the state, summer or winter, but it does get into the 20s sometimes in the winter. Today's hight was in the low 40s and it was cold.
I took an independent study course in German genealogy about eight years ago, which included a segment on reading the old German handwriting, and then practiced, practiced, practiced. This forum has given me the opportunity to put it to good use.
You may be surprised to learn that there is a considerable difference between German records and Austrian records, both in handwriting styles and vocabulary, even though they are written in German. The Austrian records are more challenging for me because almost all of my translating experience is with German parish records.
If you haven't gotten a response to your 1768 marriage translation request by the time I get up tomorrow, I will go ahead and abstract the record for you.

Utah, eh...one of our favorite states to visit. Pre-Covid Linda and I would visit the LDS Family History Library in SLC once or twice a yr and spend 2 wks each trip doing research. Used to go in the spring and/or fall...before and after the LDS Conference. We'd stay at the Double Tree on 6th Street. We always looked forward to the trip...then Covid hit and we've not traveled since. Perhaps soon :)
Thanks again Robert and I really appreciate your assistance and helpful hints. Have a nice day tomorrow.
David
