I am trying to find the parents of Carl Carlsson-Piquet
I know from the clerical surveys that he was born 10 Aug 1773 somewhere in Gavleborg, was married in Amot and died in Amot but I cannot find his parents. There are no birth records in Amot before 1797. I read in the Wiki that Amot parish was created out of the Ockelbo parish in 1798 so I thought his birth records might be in the ockelbo parish records but they don't have any birth records that early either. How can I find his birth record and parents' names?

The approach I took to find more was as follows,
FS lists Carl marrying Brita Ericsdotter in 1811, so I found that marriage record at the following location:
- Åmot (X) B:1 (1799-1833) Image 53
The marriage record shows that Carl and Brita were both living on a farm called Källsjön before they were married. The parish does have household records before 1811, so I went to the next collection of household records looking in Källsjön for Brita and Carl before the wedding. While looking within that farm, I found the following:
- Åmot (X) AI:3 (1812-1817) Image 109 / Page 104
- Åmot (X) AI:3 (1812-1817) Image 102 / Page 97
- Åmot (X) AI:2 (1804-1811) Image 114 / Page 105
- Åmot (X) AI:1 (1797-1803) Image 93 / Page 87
The last one lists Carl's mother and gives a death date for her, by looking up the death for Carl's mother, you find that his parents were as follows:
Soldier Carl Rönberg and Anna Olesdotter (1742-1802)
- Åmot (X) F:1 (1798-1861) Image 6 / Page 4
You could also do the same thing to learn more about Brita's parents. From here, you could use military records to learn more about Carl Ronberg. The following is a link to a great video on how to use military records on Arkivdigital: https://www.familysearch.org/ask/learningViewer/2087
If you have any questions, or need help getting to the documents I cited for you, let me know!
