Han-saint-jean
I found an ancestor in Geneanet.org who died in Han-saint-jean 55 in 1765. I cannot find that city in the department of Meuse. Does anyone know if the name was changed and if so, to what? I cannot find the record in Marville, Han-sur-Meuse, or saint-jean. I have an exact death date. Please advise me on where else to look.
Thanks!

Hi. Sometimes we have found that new standardized places do not always match old standardized places. So you may have to suggest one. Here is the link to the Knowledge Article https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-request-a-new-place-in-the-database-of-standardized-places. We hope this helps for you. Some places do not exist anymore. I didn't realize that was an essential. Will you share what you are working to enter, please? PaulaAnn

If the record within Geneanet you were looking at was for Marie Anne Scherer, deceased 10 May 1765, Han les saint Jean, Saint-Jean-lès-Longuyon. It was a spelling error and rather than "Han" it should be "Ham," which is in Saint-Jean-lès-Longuyon, which is in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
