Marie Frandsine Sorensen

Birth/Christening record on Arkivalieronline - Grejs, Vejle, Denmark

Fodte Kvinder 1853-1891. Page 155 in original record. Image # 12 (Arkivalieronline) Birth # 3 in 1858.

Reading the name of the mother is not a problem, but reading the name of the father is a problem. First name is Soren, but not at all sure of the rest. Thanks for your help in advance.

This is an illegitimate birth, so the mother's name comes first. Her name is Laurentze (or Laurentse) Johanne Sørensen, 22 years old. The next name in the record is cottager Niels Pedersen Rugberg who lives at Holtum Musk (or Mark). I believe that the mother is living at his house (probably as a servant-but the record doesn't actually say that). The father's name is on the next-to-last line in the record and his first name is difficult to read. It looks like it could be Ruuts or Ruutz Pedersen who lives in Hveisel (Hvejsel) parish and he is a tenant/renter (Insidder). I cannot find any instances of a first name of Ruuts/Ruutz so the name is probably something else.

I just noticed that in other places in these birth records, the writer is making the letter "e" and it looks like "u". There are a few instances of the name "Reetz" in Denmark. It's pretty rare, but it may be a possibility for the first name of Marie Frandsine's father.

I am attaching an image of the results of searching for the first name Reetz in Danish Family Search.
