Could someone who has worked with French records help
Hi, I posted a question in France group, but just can't seem to get any replies.
Could someone who researches Quebec and is familiar with French records take a look.
I need help with a surname and occupation - Thanks for any help you can offer - Carl

Not being an expert in old French handwriting I asked some good friends who I thought could be of some help. See their response below:
I took a look at this. We think the name is Reine Douoy. But to be sure, we would need to see more of the handwriting on these pages to compare the first letter to other words with that letter. It helps to decipher the old writing if you can see more of it to get the hang of the person's handwriting.
On the blacksmith, we think there is a comma after Jung and the word after is eydevant. The word devant means in front of or before. Eydevant is probably some old French version of it? It doesn't make much sense with blacksmith. So we wonder if it could be idiomatic and refers somehow to his position as a blacksmith? Those are our guesses.

I really appreciate you and your friends taking a look at it.
This Marriage record came from Gros-Réderching, Moselle, France. Regarding the occupation, it kind of makes sense, because it was the occupation of the father of the Bride who was dead. So maybe it was a reference like "formally a Blacksmith"?
I'll see if I can find the record, I know I do not have a link to it. I'll also check some indexes for the surname Douoy.
