Hi Robert,
Thank you. It is nice to know that I wasn't too far wrong on a couple of the names.
Do you think the mother's name is given first because the child was illegitimate and the parents probably weren't married?

Hi Phil,
I don't know this with certainty but your reasoning makes sense.

Thank you. At times the records don't follow the usual format with no explanation.

Hi Robert,
I have another record I could use your help on. This is a man who apparently married a widow. I just have questions about a few words, his birth place and the woman's maiden name. It is the first entry, 39a. I left the abbreviations which I now know as they are .
Joh. Matthäus Keßler, Bürger u̅ Schreinermeister?, alt 44 Jahre 8 Mon. 10 Tage, starb an erräsaen? Brustfieber, 20 April Ab:10 Uhr u̅ wurde mit ä. Erl. 23 April Nachmittag 3 Uhr öffentlich beerdigt. Er war zu Staphershauser? geb. 1809, 10 August, verheir. sah? 1836, 27. Dez. mit Anne Maria Margarethe, verwitwete Tanner geb. Pidatch? u̅ zeugte mit ihm 5 KK...
Thank you.

Hello Bill,
erräsaen? = nervös__? (some form of "nervous"? -- I can't make out the letters at the end)
sah? = sich
The man is from: Stepfershausen: https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/20875031
I think the widow's maiden surname begins with the letter "S": Sid . . . the rest is unintelligible to me.
You may want to post this question to the entire Germany community asking about the word before "Brustfieber" and the widow's maiden name.

Robert,
Thank you. Stepfershausen is near Meiningen as is Wasungen, the town from which the records come. Sich was pretty obvious. Somehow, however, it is good to know that it is not just me that has trouble deciphering these records. I'll ask the group about the other words.
