missing information - Sigurd Olson

Greetings! I submitted an access to information request to obtain a naturalization record and they sent me an email reply asking for a proof of death for Sigurd Olson. Here's what I know:

Sigurd Olsen Galtrud, born Sept. 7, 1900 at Tretten, Gudbrandsdalen, Norway. Emigrated to Canada aboard the vessel Stavangerfjord on Mar. 16, 1926. Arrived in Halifax on Mar. 24, 1926. A note in the passenger list says that Sigurd's naturalization was Jul. 28, 1939. A search of the naturalization file index shows that the naturalization certificate was issued on February 8, 1940. At that time, Sigurd is listed as a carpenter living in Bourkes, Ontario. I've searched FindaGrave without luck, searched the web for an obituary, but haven't found anything so far. Does anyone else have any suggestions?
