Why do I continue receiving prompts to attach the 1950 Census but I'm denied access?

On several different family members, I have been prompted to attach the 1950 US Census. However, in following the usual process for attaching records to a profile, I receive a "access denied" message. What's the use in providing a tool that cannot be utilized? In some instances these Census returns hold vital information that would enhance or further research, it just seems contrary to logic for us to know there's a record awaiting attachment that we're denied from doing so.

The permissions for the 1950 census are still wonky. They've been trying to fix it for a month now. (Mark McLemore [admin] posted on Oct. 21 on the extra-long 1950 census thread, saying that he'd reported it to engineering.)
