Help Getting Started
Hello,
I am looking to find a record of my great grandmother, Barbara Fuss', birth. I know she was born on December 24, 1896 in Kulot Serbia. She arrived in Baltimore in 1914 with her father Antal Fuss, and the passenger manifest says her mother's name was Julia (she remained in Kulot). She and her father were going to stay with her paternal uncle Jakob Fuss (also from Kulot) in Chicago. Not sure where to begin looking for a record of her birth and other records of her family in Kulot. I have records for her after 1914, but nothing before she arrived in the United States.
Thanks!
Susan

Did you perhaps mean Kolut?
Koluth in Bács-Bodrog county, Hungary had a Roman Catholic church locally. The civil registry office was also local. The place's name was Hungarianized in the late 1800s to Küllőd, and is now Kolut, Serbia.
FamilySearch has the pre-civil-registration bishop's copies of the church records from Koluth (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/3476), but of course those end a year too early for you. (Civil registration began in the Kingdom of Hungary on Oct. 1, 1895.) The Archbishopric of Kalocsa has the Küllőd baptismal records digitized and online up to 1920, for a fee.
The civil registry records for places that are now in Serbia are not online anywhere that I know of.
