New York County Probate Records
I have letters of administration for a person who died in 1842 intestate. This person had a lot of property and a brother from Connecticut was given the rights to administer his estate. The administration was granted in the Surrogate Court of New York County.
Since he died without a will, do you think there could be an inventory of his estate? If so, where would you suggest I look for an inventory?
Thanks

@Kent Jaffa Do the admin letters have a case number? You could search online probate records for that case number (I have better luck by dredging through the files one by one other than using search criteria) or you could call the courthouse where it was filed and have them do a search for you. If you’d like to share the letters with me I’d be happy to help you can share here or just send them to me by private message. Let me know

Also... was the property in CT?

Thank you. I looked through some of the FamilySearch films, but didn't find anything. Neither the administration nor the bond have a case number. I am not sure where the property was. At one time, they had made a loan for the Nauvoo Temple and we are trying to see if it was paid off by Oliver Granger.

Perhaps you could try submitting your post to the legal genealogist, I’ve heard wonderful things about the site and I think it’s free... here is the link to the site https://www.legalgenealogist.com/
in the meantime I’m gonna tag some of the other communities that may be able to help you as well 😊 @Family History Research @New England @Adoption and Unknown Family Research
