The link will only show temple opportunities and record hints for the person that is logged in. This means that if you try to open the link it will show you yours, but if the member opens the link it will show them theirs.

In order for you to see information in a person's tree, they need to grant you access as a helper. This is useful when you don't have access, as a way to reach out to people so you can start working with them. In a way it helps the initial contact by letting them already know there are things they can do.

As I indicated above, towards the very beginning of this post:

I did see that the, "Record Hints"; and, "Temple Opportunities", were the same for each person.

I understand about, sending a "Invite" through the 'Consultant Planner" and that invite being accepted; and/or, signing in as "Help Others".
.
But, some of those on the (my) List are ALREADY in my "Consultant Planner"; and, I cannot see the DIRECT "Link" for those Members; and, I think that I should be able to do so.

The links are personalize and also secure to the person they apply to. Only the person can see the record and temple hints. You as a helper, will not be able to view their hints.

The determination to show the entire stake was a purposeful decision. In many locations, especially internationally, this was a request. You likely only need your ward information.
These hints are meant to be discovery conversation starters - not something that you would not have to use the Planner before hand in order to share. These hints are pulled from an expanded source, so they may be different from the campaign and temple hints that show for a person through the Planner.
Another inferred learning from these hints is if you have people in your ward where no hints are provided, this may indicate that they haven't started a Tree or need help filling in their first four generations.

You are exactly right, this is a doubling-up, it is an expansion of the communication channels. Many members do not have email and are not receiving the messages. If you find someone that is receiving the emails and aware of them, you would not need to use this venue to engage them.

Just looked at this feature. I think this is a great feature as it will tip off the Consultant who they might contact to get a good conversation started.
It appears that I can see that there are links, but since I do not have any access to the actual link for the person (except my own), I could only send an email (or contact them) that there is a link available for them, and then make an appointment with them to discover who this link is showing. Isn't FamilySearch.org already sending email messages to them with the actual links to their email? (I have received several of these type of messages from FamilySearch.) So the value I take it is just knowing they have a link they could quickly begin to explore. I'm willing to give this a try, it will open up directed opportunities, and that does have value.

You are right Connie, these are hints that people receive in the email or FamilySearch messaging. This feature is meant to help consultants reach those people who do not have an email, or don't open them, this is meant to be an additional channel.

I see only a name list of members in my ward (and stake), but nothing else. No links, no numbers, nothing.

Yes, I noticed that too. This tool is still undergoing changes. When I first posted about it, their were hyperlinks that you could copy and send to the members of your ward. Now it just shows the list of names of members who have Research Hints and Temple Opportunities in FamilySearch. That could be all members of your ward but not likely all of them. There are probably some that haven't yet created a FamilySearch account or haven't put in enough information in the Family Tree to connect to the branches where the hints and opportunities exist. Members of your ward who are in this list will need to log in to their FamilySearch Account to see these hints and Temple Opportunities. If your name is on the list, you can log in and see how the members will see how they are presented.

I took a look at this and was wondering about the overall purpose. As stated "Members in your branch or ward have a Temple Opportunity, a Record Hint, or a Discovery Experience waiting for them on FamilySearch.org." The list seems overly broad. How would i use it? Since it includes so many different things - Temple Opportunity, a Record Hint, or a Discovery Experience - it would be difficult to start a conversation "Hey, I see you have something waiting for you on FamilySearch. It could be any one of a number of things, so let's get you on the site to see what it is." Maybe it could be selective, allowing you to see what category it fits in so you could focus your outreach. Maybe I would want to focus on talking to those who have a Discovery Experience waiting for them. Ask them if they know FS has Discovery Experiences and talk about what those could be. Or, in preparation for an upcoming Ward Temple Day, I could run the list or people who have Temple Opportunities and help them get those ready for the trip. Having a focused list would be much more help to me. Thanks for developing these things and allowing us to test and comment on their development.

I checked with the campaign team. They did make changes to the experience (since this is in Beta, that is likely to happen.) The introduction to the page now reads "Members in your branch or ward have a Temple Opportunity, a Record Hint, or a Discovery Experience waiting for them on FamilySearch.org. Help them log in and check their Messages." Where the first experience only provided temple and record hints, this list has expanded to include discovery.
As a consultant, you will not know what the opportunities are, but are invited to be part of the discovery by helping the person sign into FamilySearch and click on "messages" to see their opportunities. Right now the list is not dynamic -but in the future if a person has already seen the messages, their name would not be included on the list. (Though new campaigns are refreshed about every 30 days, so I think there is the chance to have people come on and off the list.) Your feedback is very crucial to know if this is a tool that helps you engage with members in your unit or not! Please try this and provide feedback.
Another new feature on Messages that you might not be aware of. When members of our ward are in "Conversations" and click on "Start a Conversation" two lists are generated. One is Recent Contacts, but the first list is their ward temple and family history consultants with a pop up "A Temple and Family History Consultant is a local helper who is willing to help you have inspiring family history experiences."

Brother Stansfield, I will try it the way you suggest, but I have a concern that maybe someone can help me with. Maybe instructions have changed.
I was trained (and have observed) that there are several kinds of people in regards to family history. Some are interested and available to do searching. Others are very busy and don't put a priority on doing the research. In my experience, some of the hints aren't accurate or have already been attached by the time I get to them. I worry about getting someone excited only to disappoint them. Guess I will have to pray and ask to know who would be receptive. I wish we could actually see the hint, opportunity, or discovery. But I will try it.

My inclination on this is to start with someone that I know will not give up on FS if they don’t have a rewarding experience right at first. I will try it with a few members who will keep working on FS regardless of the outcome. I would not want a member’s first experience with me to be frustrating by already having the record attached or being a duplicate etc. Will let you know how it goes!

@TLStansfield TLStansfield FYI: Ward Unit numbers need to be updated. Wards are getting realigned more and more. We have 2 new wards and the members on this tool are still showing up under the old wards.

At the afternoon leadership meeting at Stake Conference that my husband attended, our visiting Area 70, stated that if he were trying to get T & FH work going in our wards, the consultants could just go to Help then go to the place where the consultants could email the ward members with a link to their family tree. I'm guessing that this is the same thing as this campaign mentioned above, but I'm not 100% sure. I had a bit of a difficult time finding this info again, but when I went to the link above, it looked different than it did before. (It is now a little clearer, stating that the link is the same for everyone, but when each person signs in to familysearch.org, it will take them to their messages. The messages will list Record Hints or Temple Opportunities, of which some might be current & some might already be attached or reserved by someone else.) My question is this: Is there another way to get to this list of ward members' hints or temple opportunities just by going through the Help tab at the top of the page? My husband said that the Area Authority said you could just get there through Help but then didn't go through all the steps of how/where to find it. Thanks for any suggestions of how else to find it! I know that it was in beta testing when this thread appeared several months ago & there hasn't been any talk that I've seen about it since.

It sounds like the Area Seventy was referring to the Planner tool, not the list discussed above. By going to Help > Helper Resources > + Someone to the Planner you can send an email invitation to someone in your ward or stake using the embedded stake directory. You can also send an email to someone not in your stake by clicking Enter Manually. If you are with someone and they give you the last five digits of their membership record # and their FS username - you can also gain permission to access their Tree this way.
Once you gain access into their Tree, the Planner provides you a list of discovery and campaign hints for their Tree. Also lists Record Hints, Temple Opportunities, and Possible Duplicates. You can see exactly what the Planner can provide by clicking on your own name and seeing your own Tree with all of these features highlighted.

The Helper planner is marvelous. I also love this opportunities tool because it allows me to reach out to many more individuals. I simply send emails with the copied link.

You may be right about that. I am very familiar with adding a person on the consultant planner, however I have not usually had much success by sending an email to them. I generally get their information and add them. I guess that’s why I did not think about that being an option of what the area 70 was referring to.
