"I would like guidance on where to start research on a great-great-grandmother Emiliana Hastenreiter.
GW2L-8VK. I only have one source below that she married my Portuguese great-great grandfather in Rio de Janeiro."
Hastenreiter is not a Swiss name - and there is no Swiss name even close to it. What is your indication of her being from Switzerland?
The problem - with a non-Swiss citizen - is that we don't have a place of citizenship where one could start searching. I am sorry to say - with just this name and no other information I wouldn't know where to start - even if she actually was from (i.e. was living in) Switzerland before immigration.
https://ggs.spdns.eu/ finds Hastenreiter almost exclusively in Brazil - with one exception: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/search?firstname=&middlename=&lastname=Hastenreiter&birthyear=&birthyearfilter=&deathyear=&deathyearfilter=&location=&locationId=&memorialid=&datefilter=&orderby= … so possibly Berlin (Germany) might be your best bet.

Thanks for your support. I will need to find new sources from why family said it was a Swiss surmane and search about.

When did the family emigrate?
After the First World War (even more so after the Second) Germans were not really welcomed in many countries. To avoid problems many Germans would tell their neighbours they were Swiss 😉. So - if Swiss origin is just family lore, one should not automatically take that for fact (could be, of course).
