My name is Tom Ryan. I have been researching my familyโs history as well as my wife's familyโs for a little over 20 years. I believe my Ryan ancestors came to the United States, more particularly to New York State by way of the Saint Lawrence River at the time of the Great Hunger in Ireland and then crossed the border into northeast New York State. Though my interest in genealogy vis-a-vis Canada is primarily centered around that time, I've always been interested in United States-Canadian relations and history in the Lake Champlain corridor in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Hello and thank you! I've only really been doing family research myself for a couple of years now, but have come to absolutely love the adventure. My mother has done it for decades now, and we've made a lot of progress on our lines. I have ancestors out of the Toronto area which is the main reason I've joined this group. My 2nd great grandmother, from Toronto, we've never been able to find anything about prior to her marriage. Hoping to be able to make a break through here or help others break through their blocks possibly!

You might consider providing some additional information regarding your ancestor's names, dates, events, etc. if you would like some help from members of the group.
