If people belonged to Lutheran or Orthodoxic church, you need to request information from each parish. Only very few people did not belong to church and for those you can ask from Digi- ja väestötietovirasto, dvv.fi

In Finland it can be quite challenging to get information under 100 years because of the strict privacy laws.

Thanks, If the people have died do the privacy laws still apply?

Privacy laws apply so that looking from this year 100 years, parish records and others are restricted, but Death information has 50 years restriction. Thus Parish records and censuses are available until 1919 and death records until 1969. In many parishes digitizing has not been done so far, it is a voluntary work, but all the time we get new records.
