Looking for Portuguese Immigrant Ancestor to Mexico
Hello,
There is a yarn in the family that the Urbina's are descended from a Portuguese ancestor who came to Mexico in the Durango area. The earliest ancestor of my father in law I have been able to trace is Juan Urbina (circa 1890) and the Urbina's sort of go dead after that. Need help with the Immigrant Urbina ancestor. Thanks!

Maybe Debbie Gurtler or one of the Latin American Research Group experts can leave a comment.

Brian; It would be helpful if you would list Juan Urbina's FamilySearch record number.

My Wife's ancestor Juan Urbina (of Durango, Mexico) has a FS ID# of G414-VK3 . His son is Adolfo Urbina Hernandez (1913-1981), my wife Mayte's Grandfather. There is also family lore that the Urbina's were related to Thomas Urbina, Brig. General under Pancho Villa during the Mexican Revolution. Hope this helps.

There are several Juan Urbinas listed in the Durango, Mexico 1930 census. You may find more information about your ancestor there.

There are many Urbina's buried in the town cemetery in San Jose de Ramos, El Oro Municipio, Durango, Mexico. The locals simply call the place 'Ramos.' I thought this might be helpful.
