I need help translating Danish military rolls
I have two Danish military rolls I need help translating. They are both for Claus Thomsen as the father and his son, Rasmus, in Stokkemarke Parish, Maribo County, #77, in 1849. The first is old #52, new #14. I need the residence and the remarks (?) in the far right column.

The second one is in 1854 for the same people. I need help with the word before Sept. 1856, the residence, and whatever it says by 1840.
I'm not experienced at these military rolls and I'm not sure why I can't find Rasmus Clausen's (L5V7-TLX two sons, Claus (born 1848) and Rasmus (born 1851). Any suggestions or links would be soooo helpful! Thank you!

I totally missed your question about Rasmus Clausen's sons, Claus and Rasmus.
They were born about the time when boys weren't added to the rolls until they were around 14 or 15 years of age. So they wouldn't show up until about 1862 or 1863 for Claus and 1865 or 1866 for Rasmus.
See this article in the Family Search Wiki: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Danish_Military_Levying_Rolls:_When_was_a_person_registered_in_the_L%C3%A6gdsruller.

In both of your records, the residence is "hjemme" which is "at home", presumably in Stokkemarke. I think, but can't be sure, that the note for the year 1840 is "T.t. trk" which is "Fit for Transport driver". See "Abbreviations in Army Levying Rolls here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Denmark_Abbreviations_in_Army_Levying_Rolls. The final abbreviation in the first record is "hmd" which is an abbreviation for "husmand-cottager. This is someone who either has a house and no land of significance or a small plot (husband med jord) which is not large enough to support a family". See Danish Genealogical Word List here: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Danish_to_English_Genealogical_Word_List#F. Also, see "Hmd" in the Army Levying Rolls Abbreviations link above.
In your second record, the word before Sep. 1856 is "fripas" which is "deferment-passed by". See the above referenced Danish Genealogical Word List. The abbreviation after 1840 appears to be "m:a hmd". "M:a" appears in several of the entries for other men, but I don't know what it could be. You might be able to find it written out in another record. "Hmd" would be "husmand-cottager" again.

Thank you, Norm. That was a very quick reply! Do you have any idea why I'm not finding the sons in the military rolls? They stayed in Denmark until 1865.

That is very helpful to know when I could expect to find the sons on the military rolls. I thought they began when the male child was born! I'll check it out for Claus. Since they moved in August 1865, he may be on the roll.
You're the best!
