BENNETT IMMIGRANTS FROM UK TO SOUTH AFRICA
What other immigration/passenger list records are available besides the ones on FamSearch, FindMyPast, Ancestry and My Heritage? Are there any websites that may have additional records not found on the usual genealogy sites? Looking for a Bennett family or individual that emigrated to South Africa between 1880-1904. Their place of origin in the UK is still unknown and there are plenty of Bennetts so the starting point is a tricky one. The only person I know is a Martha Ann Bennett who was 24 when she married in Pietermaritzburg in 1904. She was a resident in PMB in 1904 and was a nurse by profession.

Are you aware of the Genealogical Society of South Africa ( https://genza.org.za/index.php/en/ ) and an associated website: https://www.eggsa.org/index.php/en/ within which you will find:
https://www.eggsa.org/arrivals/eGGSA%20Passenger%20Project.html and by drilling down even further you will find:
http://www.eggsa.org/arrivals/lists.html this might be a useful tool. I've found useful on many (but not on all) occasions.

Hi,
Many thanks for the Eggsa link. Martha Ann (Annie) Bennett was a nurse and I came across a passenger arrival from 27 Dec 1900. This could very well be her, the sponsor could be William Edward Roberts older brother of John Robert, her husband to be in 1904. She did spend time at Guys hospital in London in 1899. We may have a case of two brothers marrying two sisters which may help narrow down Martha's origins. So this is a new avenue of research I am pursuing. Will check out the links and see what else may be there. All good as Martha Ann has been the brick wall in my research. There at least 8 or 9 Martha Ann Bennetts in the UK so trill trying to determine if she was born there or in SA. Have checked their census records.
Will keep you posted.
Thanks!
Rowland.
