Puerto Rico census help

My question concerns the line second from the top for Maximiliano Ramirez y Peña.
- What does the column after their ages show? It looks like the heading says something about a consensual contract
- I am assuming the column after telling if they are married tells the number of years married. Do you think that is a "4"? Looking at Carmen's age, it shouldn't be much more than 4 [oldest child is 4].
- What can you tell me about his occupation?
- About Maximiliano's surname "Ramirez y Peña", would that second name be his mother's maiden name?
THANKS

Great questions!
- Marital status. CC stands for Contracto consensual, which appears to be what we call in English a 'common-law' marriage. However, Maximiliano and his wife both show "C1" which would be casado, or marriage, the 1 referring to the fact that it is the first marriage for both of them.
- 7 years (compare to the age '43' for the first person on the page).
- I have no idea about his occupation, other than that he works for himself 'SC' = su cuentra
- Yes, you would expect the Pena to be his mother's first surname, passed down from her father.
I hope someone with a better understanding of the Spanish language can help you out with his occupation.
