WALES CLODD
Wales clodd was born in woodbridge, suffolk in 1756 and served in the navy in the late 1700's.
He served on a number of ships, but the most interesting one was his last, HMS VANGUARD , Nelsons flag ship at the battle of the Nile where he was master.
I have some records, his will and some naval record, but i would like to investigate more of his naval history but i don't know whether that's possible.
He died in 1800 in Chelsea.
Ive also found conflicting info about his father Edmund, either born in 1704 or 1731, both married to Sarah Wales
thanks

Regarding naval records, see my comment on your previous discussion
Regarding Edmund, 1731 seems a more plausible date. There is a marriage licence dated 3 May 1749 between Edmund Clodd of Woonbridge, single, and Sarah Vales of Ufford, single. This is available on FindMyPast ("FMP"). FMP lists three children baptised in Woodbridge - Sarah (1754), Wales (1756) and Edmund (1758). It lists two more in Ipswich to Edmund and Sarah - Edmund (1764) and John (1766). Ipswich is only 6.9 ml from Woodbridge so it is likely this is the same family. Note that the Edmund from Woodbridge died that same year and was buried in Woodbridge.
The 1704 date probably derives from Edmd Clod baptised in Marlesford in 1704 to Edmd and Ann. This too is found in FMP. There is a marriage between Edmond Clodd of Marlesford and Ann Wake of Woodbridge in Woodbridge in 1697. Marlesford is only 6.7 ml from Woodbridge. FMP does not list any other plausible baptism candidates. Whilst it remains a possibility, to be married at age 45 not having married previously does seem unlikely.
Note that if you are searching Suffolk databases on FMP, some of these records are not found. You need to search England wide databases limiting your search to Suffolk to find them.
