Guldbrand Frederiksen died 18 Oct at age 39 and was buried 23 Oct 1868 "uden jordspaakastelse"--that is, without the ritual of having soil thrown onto his grave by the priest three times (see note). He was born in Norway by Vennelyst and was married. He died from falling into the cargo on a ship. He didn't belong to the state church (folkekirken) or to any recognized faith/church. According to his widow, they were Apostolic Christians.
The reason he was buried without the usual ritual is apparently because he did not belong to the state church, so the parish priest was not his priest.

Thank you so much! Are you sure about Vennelyst? There have been other translations and no one has mentioned this fact, which was my whole reason for asking. We have not had a reputable place name in Norway before.

Yes; it says "ved Vennelyst," meaning "by Vennelyst," and that added information is located in the same spot where the other entries include an address.

Exactly. And those addresses are locations/streets in Aarhus. I take it as a location of residence in Aarhus in lieu of a street. Vennelyst is the oldest, and then still relatively new, park in Aarhus. It is also separated by a dash from the birth country, indicating, as it does elsewhere in that column, a new topic. Thank you for contributing, it helped clarify things.
