Dalskog parish, Älvsborg 1829 Marriage Record
I have some simple questions. I would like to learn more about historic (1700-1900) marriage processes in Sweden, and how the "state church" worked. I have checked FS Wiki, ArkivDigital, VärmlandsRotter, and the web, and must be inputting incorrect searches.
This Marriage Record Book doesn't fit the normal look of marriage records for me.
"Flathult (name of farm/area) drangen (farmhand) Olof Olofsson with pigan (farm maiden) Elin Jönsdotter from Trollungebyn."
Questions:
If the first column is the date of marriage, the "ditto" is listed in the previous record as 27 September.
Second column is the number of couples for the year. The previous page lists 1 and 3, therefore 2 and 4 would be appropriate.
Third column "Karta" - is that the plan - and the number of months the couple would meet with the priest?
Where is the bann/lysning date?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thank you!

- Karta = Lysningskarta, It was a fee they payed the Priest
- There is no comment on this record for bann/lysnings date. (its differs in the parishes, how there records look like even most had the same standard.
- The date is the 27 sep as dito means "the same"
The tradition was that 1-2 times befor the wedding, the Priest announced the wedding at the sunday service.
and tradition was that the couple payed a small fee to the priest for perfoming the wedding. This tradition went on until mid 1950-1960. Its not allowed today.

Thank you so very much. I really appreciate your definitions. I always thought the process was more than just an announcement, but rather pre-marriage classes or counseling. This is the first time I've used Community on FS, and this has been very helpful. I will use it again-when needed.
Thank you for your explanation. gloria
