    Hi Karen,

I read it as follows: her name is Dorothea Luttke. She was born in 1814 in Friedensthal. It gives the year 1839 in the confirmation column but I suspect that is actually her marriage date because right next to it in the marriage column it says wittweheit (widowhood) 1864? 1/8. The last two numbers of the year is very hard to read so I could definitely be wrong. The day and month are designated as 1/8 so that is August 1st. Her death is 11/9 1887 so that is September 11th instead of November 9th.

In the first column after her name it may say where she was living but I cannot read it.

    Hello Karen and Greg,

What is written after Dorothea's full name appears to be her maiden surname.

    Here is what I read:

"Dorothea Lüttke, g[eboren] Tschetschke" = Dorothea Lüttke, née Tschetschke.

    What do you two think?

I agree with Greg that the column with the illegible date indicates she was a widow since 1 August 18??.

I think you are correct Robert. It looks like either Tschetschke or Tschatschke and it makes sense that they would record her maiden name there.
