LOOKING FOR GRANDMOTHER
Subject: Researching grandmother

Just wondering if you can help- I am trying to find my grandmother and have so far found the attached documents.
On the birth register of my mother (Dorothy Violet) my grandmother Maud Lillian is listed as her mother but I cannot read the surname.
On the other document Iis the marriage certificate of Maud Lillian to Thomas Alexander Rose but here her maiden name is different.
The family story is that Maud left home when Dorothy was 3 years old and never returned- Thomas Alexander Rose my grandfather would not speak of her - my mother died in her eighties having never found out anything about Maud her mother. The other part of the story is that Maud left the house with two gentlemen who were carrying briefcases.
It is a real mystery- especially the name change. Note also on the marriage certificate official maiden name is different to what Maude signed.
If you could decipher the surname of Maude on the birth register it would be very helpful.
