Seeking Genealogy Records for Phangs Settled in Jamaica from Fenggan, China + Hong Kong
Hi All,
I am trying to do my mom’s family tree but keep running into walls. Her Dad came to Jamaica from China. The family name is Phang. The family was from Guangdong province, the city of Dongguan and I believe the town is named Fenggang.
I only know the name my grandfather used in Jamaica. I have the name of his dad (my great grandfather) and also my great-great grandfather (only have the Romanization of their Chinese names). They all came to Jamaica but my grandfather and great great-grandfather returned to China (my grandfather eventually settled in Hong Kong). I do believe my great grandfather died in Jamaica. He was not buried in the Chinese Cemetery in Kingston so their cemetery database would not be helpful.
I only have a second hand photo of my great great grandfather. I don't know of any relatives who have letters that were sent from China (my aunt through out whatever letters her Dad has sent to her when he returned to China). Any help that can be provided would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you for the information.
Since we are talking about China + Hong Kong, if I have some Chinese characters information would be very helpful for me to start with.
Is this your family surname? Pang (simplified Chinese: 庞; traditional Chinese: 龐; pinyin: Páng) is a Chinese surname. It is romanized Pong in Cantonese. In Vietnam, this surname is written in Quốc Ngữ as Bàng. "Pang" is also the Cantonese romanization of another Chinese surname Peng (Chinese: 彭; pinyin: Péng).
