Help translating German Letter From Relative

I came across this letter written to my deceased mother. Would someone be able to help translate it for me. The letter is 4 pages, however I am only attaching the first page.

    30 March 1981

    Dear Aunt Rosie!

    It is something very difficult that I must tell you. Surely you already suspected something bad when you saw the sender. I would have liked to leave it to Aunt Anny to tell you, but she can't. Mom died suddenly of a stroke on Thursday, 26 March. I just still can't believe it. I think she will walk in the door any minute. The children and Peperl are also stunned. For me it's hardest of all, because first of all it's my mother and then I've experienced everything first hand. And that is my only consolation, that she did not suffer and that she was not alone when it happened. Actually I was going to send a telegram, but then decided to write something more detailed. Because I assume that it will be a terrible blow for you too. And I didn't want to let you know so callously and without another word. I informed Aunt Anny by telephone. She had a terrible crying fit. We were with her the day before yesterday; she is already better, and of course she wanted to know everything about it. I want to write it to you, too, because one feels the need to hear more about it. I will start with Tuesday, 24 March. She was particularly industrious.
