I need help understanding this birth record. What is the child's name and sex?
The child was born 22 Nov. 1640 and baptized the 25th in Bitritto. Parents are Vito Silvio and Pasqua de Geronimo. The child's name is usually listed in the record and in the margin. An index was made later sorted by given name but this record was not included. This is the only one I've seen with the Pope named. I don't know if the child is male or female. I have not found a death record for this child close to this time. I am grateful for any help or insights. Diane

I have never seen anything like this before! Papal dispensations for marriages are common, but I can't think of a reason a papal dispensation would be mentioned on a baptismal record.
I believe the sex is male because we have "natus ex" and not "nata ex" but the handwriting is so poor even that is not certain. There is no name mentioned anywhere. There are no godparents either, which is also out of the ordinary.
I'm struggling to understand what's going on with the couple and their dispensation. All I'm able to say with confidence is that the couple sought and obtained a papal dispensation, but I really couldn't tell you why. Their marriage record (if they even are legitimately married) could be helpful in understanding the situation.
I do notice something, which is a little note on the left saying to see folio 45. Perhaps folio 45 has some clarifying information here.
