Jackson County, Wisconsin birth records
Hi everyone!
I am looking for the birth record of my great-grandfather, Joseph Kirzinger, born Aug. 15, 1895 in Jackson County, Wisconsin (Millston? BlackRiver Falls? Neillsville?). Where can I find these records? Happy to write to the vital statistics department if not online.
He would have been baptized Roman Catholic.
thanks in advance!

Hello, @AudreyKirtzinger
You may have lucked out! If you go to Search > Catalog and type in the location, 'Jackson Wisconsin' you will be able to see all the records that FamilySearch has for Jackson county, Wisconsin. At the bottom of the list is the category Vital Records, which includes Jackson County [Wisconsin] registration of births, ca. 1876-1907. Apparently, the year 1895 is not yet available online, but this record indicates that birth records were actually kept for that time period in Wisconsin (some states didn't keep birth records until the federal law requiring them in 1905). If you are near Salt Lake City, you might be able to view the microfilm of the birth records there. Otherwise, it looks like the best contact you will have is the Black River Falls Library's History Room. It appears to have an index including all those early births, deaths and marriages. Other than that, you should be able to request a copy of his birth certificate from the Jackson county Register of Deeds. I'd recommend confirming that he is in the index )email the librarians) before requesting his birth certificate from the county. Hope you can find the birth record for your great-grandfather!
