Italy to Argentina
Hi, I am a volunteer at the Spanish Fork, Utah, Family History Center. A patron came in today trying to find information about her birth father, Carlo Baldini, who was born in Naples, Italy, and emigrated to Argentina in the 1950's. The patron has her Argentina birth certificate but no father's name or information is provided because the parents were not married. She learned from her mother that the father's name was Carlo Baldini and that he was born in Naples, Italy, sometime around 1927, but she isn't sure of his birth year. She was born in 1952 and she feels like her father came to Argentina a year or two before that. I wasn't sure where to direct her for research resources considering the more recent time period. Any suggestions on what I should tell her?
Thank you!

It would be difficult without knowing the comune in Naples. There are some recent birth collections for that province, however (https://www.familysearch.org/records/images/search-results?page=1&place=432975&endDate=1950&startDate=1920&recordTypes=103979). In CEMLA, there's one entry for Carlo Baldini, arriving to Argentina in 1887, but that puts his birth date at 1861.

Records for the city of Napoli are not currently available online past 1865 (although it may be that he was actually born in another town in the Province of Napoli, for which there are some records as previously noted). They would need to contact the city of Napoli directly to request a record, and for a birth record less than 100 years ago, it can only be released to a direct descendant and ID is required.
