Hi, has anyone here have any idea to whom should I try to email a request to check a birth record of my great-grandfather born in Lábatlán in 1911 (I do know his DoB and his father's name)? Family search says that records from 1909 to 1917 are only available on microfilm in the Family History Library. Is there a way I could request to see his record? Either from familysearch themselves or maybe even the town of Lábatlán?

Thanks in advace

If you have an exact date, I believe the Family History Library's Lookup Service should be able to find it for you and send you the image via email. It's worth a try, anyway:

Contacting the town of Lábatlan is not going to help: the insane interpretation of the current privacy law that's applied in archives in Hungary protects birth records to before civil registration even began.

(Note that it's Lábatlan, no second diacritic. It's identical to a word meaning "legless". Scholars have not figured out the story of how the town acquired its name, but they theorize that it could have been the byname of an early landowner, or perhaps is topographic in origin.)

Thank you Julia, I submitted a request to the Family History Library. Also thank you for explaining about Lábatlan
