I am looking for sources to attach to this family.

My direct ancestors: Klaas or Nicolaus Freundt, KJ4M-1QJ and Anna Margareta Pfeiffer, K2QJ-93P, and their son, Albert Nicolaas Frind, K42W-Y4R.

Marriage, birth, and death dates are on FS Family Tree, but no one has added the source for this information. I have checked numerous trees on Ancestry that have the same information, but the only sources attached are other’s family trees.

I am unfamiliar with German records and do not know where to begin my search. Would you know where I can find the microfilm or digital record for the marriage date of the parents and the birth record for their son, and the rest of their children?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

    If places are mentioned ...

    1) search the familysearch catalogue wheter anything is available ... if not:

2a) for catholic parishes check https://data.matricula-online.eu/de/bestande/: it's free.

2b) for reformed parishes check https://www.archion.de/: finding records ("Kirchenbuch finden") is free - to access them you have to subscribe.

    3) If you still haven't found what you are looking for, there is no general answer: ask here specifically about a given parish.

It looks like Archion has records for Schlüchtern and they are digitized and viewable online for a fee. It will be in Euros (roughly $20) and you can usually pay by many credit cards online. Your credit card might also add a small fee for dollar/euro conversion. The lowest fee will give you a month subscription with a certain number of downloads.

It looks like someone has already done a lot of work to find the location and dates for key events. Since you already have that information it should be fairly easy to look up each event in the Archion. The biggest obstacle will be if you can read enough of the old german script to recognize the dates and names.

    Edit to add:

It looks like many of the records are in Munden. Archion might have those records too but it is less clear:

You might try contacting the owner of one of the following gedbas to inquire where they were able to find the records. The owners email is listed on the page.

Thank you Soulday and JohnsonGregg for all the information. I can see it will not be easy to find the records, but I will try.

    Sincerely,

    Valerie Hausknecht
