Are the names Hans and Johann variations of the same name
Referring to the child in Baptism record (entry 22) from Retschow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, the father in 1867 census from Satow-Niederhagen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin and the 3rd name on right in Hamburg Passenger Lists year 1868. The first names were Hans, Johann and Hans. Could Hans and Johann be variations of the same name? FYI I don't need the records translated. Thank you.

Hello @Debra Palmer01,
Yes, "Johann" and "Hans" are variations of the same name. One would consider "Hans" a shortened version of "Johann".
I have often seen the same person referred to as "Johann" and "Hans" in different records

That is helpful to know because I think the three records are for Hans Joachim Range who immigrated to America in the 1800's. Thank you again @Robert Seal_1 for your help.
