I cannot make out the word following George Behke's name...

Hello @Robt_Nielsen,

I read "Canonier" split over to lines: Cano | nier. Thode, German-English Genealogical Dictionary (page 43), defines "Canonier" as: cannon gunner.

With what you already know abour Georg Behnke, would this occupation make sense?
