Concerning the new My Contributions feature on the FamilyTree app.
Are the numbers tallied from the items that show our name as contributor or do the items done for others tally in as well ( when in someone else's tree )?

I'm not sure I understand your question. There is no such thing as "someone else's tree" -- there is just Family Tree, with its 1.2 billion people. Any change you make to any person in Family Tree is counted, whether you are related to that person or not. At this point, for the "Stats" part of My Contributions we only count some very specific things: Sources attached to a person, Memories attached to a person, and new Persons added.
Now if you are talking about Help Someone, anything you do in that mode will be counted as their contributions. The "helpee" will show up as the contributor for each change; this is the consistent philosophy across all of FamilySearch. Thus the changes you make on their behalf will be counted as their changes in their Stats for My Contributions, and will not be added to your stats. That is also true of the Changes and Private Persons tabs within My Contributions -- when you are in Helper Mode, you'll see the helpee's recent changes and their private persons list.

I believe Carole is referring to 'someone else's tree' as in when using helpers tools, when you are logged in and see 'their tree' rather than your own. Is that right Carole?

When you are acting in the planner it has that banner that says you are working for whatever patron. If you add a source during that time it is listed under the patron's name and not yours so I would not think it would reflect in your contribution total. It would reflect in the patron's own contributions.

Yes, Andrea, that is what I meant, seeing the tree from their side. Thank you for all the great responses. I have now tried to add ward members using user names and helper numbers. That is a wonderful improvement. Thank you so much. I like it a lot. I was not aware of that update.
Today I printed out two lesson plans for a computer competent member and gave them to her in church. We have had two individual experiences together already and this is just a couple of heads up discovery corners of her ancestry. I told her if she needs help with them to let me know.
By the way, some consultants in our ward do not want to meet often, only quarterly. So we have started an Email reporting. The consultants email weekly reports or updates to our TFH leader and he sends them out to all of the consultants. Very informal updates like, met with X and did Y. Received access for Z, lesson plans ready etc.
Also, some of us have just a few members in the planner and others have a lot, so we are sharing members, lesson plans and ideas from the more involved to the not so involved consultants. We shall see how that goes. First we ask for another access to the member's "tree", however. We do not assume that permission for access by one consultant translates to access for any consultant.
