Meaning of Harstad
I have ancestors that came from both Harstad, Eidskog, Hedmark and Harstad, Trondenes, Troms. I know that "stad" means some type of place. Does "Har" have any meaning?

I looked up Google Chrome and found the following from "Wikipedia" - The municipality is named after the old Harstad farm (Old Norse: Harðarstaðir), since it is built on its ground.[14] The first element is (probably) the genitive case of the male name Hǫrðr, and the last element is staðir which means "homestead" or "farm".[14] The link for Google Chrome is - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_towns_and_cities_in_Norway. Didn't find anything for the other Harstad in Eidskog, Hedmark.
