Minsk Birth Record Translation Request
Hi,
Did I capture the correct birth record in this image, matching the info below (#502 in the bottom right)?
Is there any more detail in addition to this?
Child: Dovid Rubenchik, Father: Faivish Rubenchik, Father's Father: Moisha, Mother: Shifra, Mother's Father: Abram, Rabbi Khanaless, Birthdate 29/10/1882 (28 Heshvan)
I'm interested in both the Russian and Yiddish (I'm assuming) translations.
Thanks in advance. -- Brad

Hi @Brad Rubin!
This does look to be the right record! Great job!
I can help you with the Russian portion, but not with the Yiddish/Hebrew portion, although typically the same information is recorded in the Yiddish/Hebrew version as what is in the Russian version. It is important to get them both translated though, as one or the other may have more information. I'm not sure how many people we have here on the Community that can help with Yiddish, so if you don't get a response, I'd recommend the JewishGen View Mate translation service or the Tracing the Tribe Facebook page. Those are two good places to get free translations.
As for additional information beyond what you already have from the document, date of circumcision was 6 November (7 Kislev). the father was a Minsk town dweller (that's his social estate, in Russian it is a мещанин, also sometimes translated as petty bourgeois), and the child's place of birth was in Minsk.
Hope this helps. Happy New Year!

To follow-up to @Ellie Vance 's suggestion, a translator from JewishGen ViewMate responded with the Yiddish translation. It added a 2nd given name for the father, gave alternative English transliteration for the names, and provided some other interesting background info:
A boy was born, his name David
The father from Minsk Feivish son of Moshe Rubentzik the mother Shifra daughter of Avraham
Born 28 Cheshven / 29 October, circumsizion 7 Kislev / 6 November.
[The birth must have been after nightfall, which is actually already 29 Cheshven in the Hebrew calendar, since the circumsizion is done the 8th day, and the circumsizion date here is the 9th - which was on Saturday and a postponed circumsizion cannot be done on Saturday].
Note: The civil date is according to the Julian calendar which was used at that time, this date is 13 days prior the Gregorian calendar date which we use today.
28 Cheshven 5643 = 29 October 1882 Julian = 10 November 1882 Gregorian, Friday.
7 Kislev 5643 = 6 November Julian 1882 = 18 November 1882 Gregorian, Saturday.
