Latin - What is the meaning of "vices egit" in godparent column?

In a 1795 baptism register from catholic parish Bruckberg, Bavaria it looks like two individuals are listed as godmothers, separated by "vices egit."
What is a good translation? (I'm coming up with to take turns, or helper/assistant)
See attached for the whole page (top right corner).

I believe the meaning is "in whose place acted", i.e. the actual godmother was not present, but somebody else represented her (cf. the term "Vice" in English).

@Ulrich Neitzel That makes sense. Thank you.
