Translation Assistance - Prussian Birth Record
Hello! Can someone please help me with a translation of a birth record in the attached image?
Its the second one down for “Carl Gottfried August”.
What day was he born? What does it say about his parents? I noticed no father is listed - I wonder if his father died (or left).

name and occupation of the witnesses: 1. Carl Gottlieb Wegner, farmer's son at Minten, 2. Johan Gottfried Koch, tenant in Minten, 3. Miss __stine, daughter of Friedrich Neizel, tenant in Trechel.
My comments: there seems to be a note about the alleged father in the parents column; unfortunately the text is quite unreadable at that spot. The family name of the child is quite familiar to me 😁 - my father's family is from Strelowhagen, quite close to the places named here.

Hello Adrian,
it could well be that Carl received the last name of his step-father (which also was his mother's after her marriage), in particular if his step-father adopted him.
I reexamined the record and found that the residence for the first two witnesses should be Minten, a village immediately west of Gross Leistikow (https://www.meyersgaz.org/place/20188021). I updated my response accordingly.

Thank you Ulrich! My last name is Genz, and I’ve been seeking out my ancestor Carl Gottfried August Genz, for some time, but have never been able to find the record. I do know that he was born on 31 Jan 1821 though, as stated in his death record.
I believe this might be him, as later on in time, I have found that Caroline Neitzel (I’ve seen spellings with Neitzel and Neizel, as I’ve seen Genz spelled as Gentz), was married and having children with a Johann Genz.
If Carl Gottfried August Neizel’s mother married well after he was born, would Carl take on the step-father’s last name on as his own? That is common in modern day, but wasn’t sure if it was in this case.
