PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD GEDCOM DATA FROM OTHER SITES TO FAMILY TREE UNLESS
you are willing to follow all the steps to verify accuracy, add sources, search for and merge duplicates you may have just created, etc. Just because a tree is found in a partner's site does not mean it is accurate. Better to leave the uploaded GEDCOM in the Pedigree Resource File where it can be viewed and searched by all, than to contaminate the Family Tree with more incorrect information.
When you copy a GEDCOM file to the tree, sources and notes do not transfer according to the instructions at https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-copy-information-from-my-gedcom-file-into-family-tree. Instead the transfer simply overwrites any explanation of why information is correct or sources with the term "GEDCOM Data."
Well-meaning efforts such as by "Volunteer Project," that upload incorrect and incomplete data taken from another website contribute to inaccuracy and cause needless work to correct.
