Robert Seal_1 Do you think the person's profession is most often mentioned in the death record or the marriage record or as a sponsor?
Thanks this translation!!! KG

You're welcome, Kent. Tough question to which I don't have an opinion. What do you think?

Robert Seal_1 I am guessing baptismal sponsors are the best resource. Death records are often short and focused on how long the person has lived. Marriage records have the names of the couple and sometimes the maiden name of the female. Most of the early records in the 1600s have very little in the way of professions.
The Keller family is a good example of the professions being mentioned. Lots in the way of baptismal sponsors and Christoff Keller's death record says he was a baker and innkeeper at the Little White Horse tavern. The Kellers were a social and dynamic family. I love seeing occupations! KG

Excellent observations, Kent. I, too, enjoy identifying the various occupations in these German parish records.
