Ontario Birth Records pre-civil registration
Hi,
I'm looking for an Ontario birth record from 1837. I know civil registration didn't start until 1869, and I'm having a hard time finding anything before that. I've found a few collections on ancestry, archives Canada, and family search, but they don't have what I need. Any suggestions of where to look?

Your best bet is probably to look at church records. Local genealogical groups will often know what churches existed at the time and if records still exist. Then you can contact the church directly.

There is also a possibility towns and counties may have been keeping records before it became regulated (civil registration). To find these records I suggest using the FamilySearch catalog, searching by the town/county, and seeing what they have under the "vital records" category. You can also find church records this way.
